Affiliate Website Marketing

A major problem with affiliate website marketing and MLM website marketing is that when you give someone your program url they join under somebody else or under the company. This is very frustrating.

An affiliate program or network marketing program will give you a url with your unique identifying code as part of the url. Then they tell you to promote that url everywhere you can.

The program’s url will have one of two forms. The first form is http://www.affiliatecompany.com/YourCode and will look something like http://www.affiliatecompany.com/id?=alice54321. This url form is called a folder or file form.

The other form is the sub domain form. It will look something like http://alice54321.affiliatecompany.com.

The sub domain form is somewhat better for affiliate website marketing then the folder form. However, both have problems. Try telling someone your url over the phone. That can be a very frustrating task, which often leads to confusion. This can be especially true is someone has an accent or is hard of hearing. Did you say "D" or "T"?

It is somewhat better is your prospect receives the url in an email or sees it on a web site, as then they can click on it to get to your program. But this presents a new problem for you. Some people hate to click on an affiliate marketing program link or network marketing program link. Many people will instead enter the company’s main url home page into their browser, ignoring your identity code. You just lost a prospect. That hurts. Not good in affiliate website marketing.

If your prospect sees your long, complicated url in an ad or piece of literature they will have to type your url into their browser. The chance of a typo is high, as is the chance that they will go directly to the company site by ignoring you code. Either way you lose another good prospect.

Another problem is that someone looks at you program, then goes home and joins from home. Except they only remember the company name. They put it into their browser and join under the company or they do a search on the company name and join under the first person that the search engine returns for your company. Another lost prospect and another big ouch.

So how do you solve this major affiliate website marketing problem? The answer is to have your own web site with your own domain name. This is one of the big secrets of people that are successful with affiliate or MLM website marketing.

When you buy your own domain name you can have it redirected to your affiliate url. Now when you want someone to go to your affiliate page you give them your domain’s url instead of the long complicated affiliate url. Because your domain is redirected to your affiliate url they immediately go to your affiliate page.

Your domain name should be easy to remember, as short as possible, and related to the niche that the affiliate or network marketing company is in. Now you use your domain name in all of your promotions. This also makes you look like a professional. You are now set apart from the thousands of other affiliates that are using the complicated url the company gave them.

You are now steps above the others in this business of affiliate website marketing, and much closer to success.

If you are promoting more then one program then you should get a different domain for each of them.

I use GoDaddy.com for all of my domains. They have good prices, about $10 a year for a domain, and very good customer service. You can talk to a live customer service representative on the phone. If you do not inderstant how to redirect your domain call their customer service for help.

With our own domain name you are doing what 99 out of a 100 will not do in the network marketing and affiliate website marketing business, and you have just dramatically increased your chances of success.
