Are the products offered suitable for your site? How many products does the merchant offer? A large number of products usually indicates a strong merchant. Are the products downloadable digital products or physical products that need to be mailed?

Check what payment method(s) the merchant uses to pay the affiliates and if you can receive payment via that method in your country.

Always see if the merchant offers good support because you may face some difficulty during your business and if you cannot get proper support it can waste your time and money. Support includes a contact phone number or email, a web site with a good sales letter, sample text ads or banner ads, and a way for you to view your sales and commissions.

Check out the track record of both the affiliate network and the merchant. You can use search engines for this purpose. Just use the name of the program for your search and all available information on the internet on this affiliate program will be in there for you to read.

Choose affiliate programs with hot products. It is easier to sell products that people want and are searching for then to sell low interest items.

Choose products with money back guarantees, as people are more comfortable buying a product with a money back guarantee, and few ever ask for a refund.

There is a wide range in the percent of the sale that you can receive as commissions. Many are around 50%. I have seen them as low as 10%, usually on hard good, and as high as 80%, usually on downloadable products.
